Leo LaCoursiere of Brooks, MN, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Service, Oklee, MN with Larry Myhrer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service on Friday at the funeral home in Oklee.

Leo Louis LaCoursiere was born on January 10, 1937 in Lambert Township, rural Oklee, MN, the son of Paul Joseph and Irene Cecelia (Mercy) LaCoursiere. He attended country school in Lambert Township.

Leo proudly served his country in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home to start farming.

Leo was united in marriage to Darlene Ellefson. To this union was born one son, Lyle.

Leo farmed for many years. He also worked at the Brook Cheese Factory, American Crystal Sugar, and the Red Lake County Highway Department. Leo was mechanically minded and enjoyed fixing things wherever he worked.

On July 18, 1998 Leo was married to Shirley (Beiswenger) Eckstein.

In the winter months Leo and Shirley enjoyed the winters in Texas.

Leo is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Lyle (Cecilia) LaCoursiere of Clovis, NM; 6 step-children, Sherryl, Cal (Mary), Rick, Randy (Elaine), Steve (Sandy), Chad (Shirley); grandchildren, Lace and Ethan LaCoursiere; 8 step-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; sisters, Darleen (Art) Overbye, Marcy (Ron) Baitinger, Judy LaCoursiere, Diane Rautanen, Linda Genteman, and Annette (Doug) Rodich; many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jackie Baker and Mary Chrapla.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Oklee Ambulance Service.
