Leona Hedeen, 76, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Community North Hospital, Indianapolis, IN, with her husband and son by her side.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, with Pastor John Voelker officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Leona Vivian Hedeen, the daughter of Arnold and Julia (Miller) Hovet, was born on November 28, 1943 at the Thief River Falls Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Reiner Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN. She lived on the family farm in Star Township and attended Goodridge Public Schools where she graduated in 1961.
Following high school, Leona attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND and worked as an advertising manager for KRAD Radio Station in East Grand Forks, MN.
On December 6, 1964, Leona was united in marriage to Charles Peter Hedeen in Thief River Falls, MN. Together Leona and Charles made their home in Thief River Falls and raised their son Allen.
Leona worked as a bookkeeper and business partner in Hedeen Construction for several years and also as a desk clerk for the Super 8 Motel in Thief River Falls. She graduated with an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration from Northland Community College in 1992.
Leona enjoyed dancing, spending winters in Arizona, watching movies, and visiting with family and relatives. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls where she was an active member of the Women's Circle. Leona and Charles recently spent part of this past winter in Indiana to be close to children and grandchildren.
Leona is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles of Thief River Falls, MN; son Allen (Jane) Hedeen of Fishers, IN; grandchildren Grace and Samuel Hedeen of Fishers, IN; one sister, Ardith Solheim of Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law Bernice Hovet of Virginia, MN; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Julia Hovet; brother Bernard Hovet; mother-in-law and father-in-law Clara and Clifford Hedeen; and brother-in-law John Solheim.
