Leonard Ambriz of Red Lake Falls, MN, age 57, died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at his residence in Red Lake Falls, MN. A Memorial Gathering will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Riverside Park in Red Lake Falls, MN. Burial will be held at a later date in California. Leonard Howard Ambriz was born on October 6, 1955 in St. Paul, MN, the son of Albert Ambriz and Pauline (Graves) Van Wert. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Antioch, CA. Lenny attended schools in Antioch and graduated in 1973 from Antioch High School. Following high school Lenny moved to the Twin Cities where he worked various jobs including land care. In 2006 Lenny moved with his long-time companion, Lorae Benoit and their faithful companion, Breeze to Red Lake Falls, MN. Lenny loved watching sports, especially the Minnesota Gophers hockey team. Spending time with his grandchildren was very important to him. He liked to go camping and attend family outings. Walking and playing with his dog, Breeze was a favorite pastime. Lenny is survived by his long-time companion, Lorae Benoit of Red Lake Falls, MN; children, Lenny Ambriz of Theif River Falls, MN, Jermaine Ambriz of Minneapolis, MN, and Alisha Ambriz of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Raymond Ambriz, Alyias Ambriz, and Nate Ambriz; brothers and sisters, Linda Ambriz Anderson of Red Lake Falls, MN, Art Figaroa, Joe Ambriz, Monica Ambriz Misquez, Sarria Ambriz, and Penny Ambriz all of California, Ronnie Van Wert, Dean Van Wert, Jimmy Van Wert, Monica Dahl, and Jason Van Wert of Minnesota; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and Breeze, his dog. Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Leonard and Irene Graves, Manuel and Irene Banuelos, and Ciprano Ambriz; parents, Albert Ambriz and Pauline Van Wert.
