Leonard E. Boucher passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine.

Mass of Christian burial will held Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Bob Schreiner Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Brooks, MN.

Visitation will be held will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 5 – 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service and Rosary by the Knights of Columbus following the prayer service, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Leonard Ernest Boucher was born April 8, 1923 at Chester Township, Polk County, MN son of Joseph E. and Diana (Reopelle) Boucher. He was baptized April 15, 1923 and confirmed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN. He attended country school in Chester Township through the 8th grade. Leonard worked on the family farm until he entered the US Navy.

He entered the US Navy from 1945 until his honorable discharge in 1947 serving in the Marshall Islands as a Fireman First Class. Following his discharge he attended Miller Vocational School in Minneapolis for welding.

On June 28, 1948 he was united in Marriage to Veronica Pigeon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN. To this union 5 children were born . The couple moved to South Milwaukee, WI and was employed at Ladish Manufacturing for 1 ½ years. They returned to Brooks where they settled on the Pigeon Homestead and Dairy farmed for 40 years. He retired and moved to Brooks in 1990 and continued to work part-time on the farm and also for Kevin Yaggie for nine years.

Leonard was a member of the NFO, served as director for the Soil and Water Conservation for 16 years, he served on the Brooks School Board and Poplar River Township Board. They were recipients of Red Lake County Honored Dairymen and a Century Farm. Leonard was a lifelong member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and installed as a 4th Degree Knight November of 2007. He was a member of the American Legion in Plummer, MN.

Leonard enjoyed farming and always had a very large garden. He also enjoyed playing cards visiting with family and friends, traveling and reading.

Leonard is survived by his 5 children Dennis (Diane) of McIntosh, MN, Dianne (Bob) Wichterman of Chanhassen, MN, Duane (Carol) of Brooks, MN, Ron of Mt. Prospect, IL, and Fran (Stan) Tvedt of Plummer, MN; 14 grandchildren Chris (Cory) Springer of Andover, MN, Cameo (David) Herem of Eagen, MN, Caillie Boucher of Crookston, MN, Chuck (April) Wichterman of Chaska, MN, Tony Wichterman of Chanhassen, MN, Rebecca (Bryan) Pederson of Chanhassen, MN, Paul (Bobbi) Wichterman of Eden Prairie, MN, Nick Boucher of Brooks, MN, Ben Boucher of Plummer, MN, Kelley (Eric) Fleming of West Fargo, ND, Ami (Alex) Paim of Orlando, FL, Shelly (Shawn) McGoffin of Las Vegas, NV, Nikki (Adam) Jacobson of Island Park, ID and Beth Tvedt of Plummer, MN; 25 great-grandchildren Camille Springer, Courtney (Cord) Semotink, Jacob and Alyssa Hunter, Lydia and Leo Herem, Kiersten and Ashton Anderson, Hannah Brouse, Madeline and Robbie Wichterman, Frida and Camila Wichterman, William and Emmett Wichterman, Lily and Ella Fleming, Abraham and Alynne Paim, Corey, Chris and Casey McGoffin, Roman, Jewel and Porter Jacobson; one brother Paul (LouAnn) Boucher of WI and sister-in-law Delores Boucher of WI, brother and sister-in-law Sheldon and Rose Pigeon of Champlin, MN along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Veronica, 2 granddaughters Caren Hunter and Cassandra Anderson; parents Joseph and Diana Boucher; brothers Delpha, Joe, Maurice, Clarence and sister Eunice Bourque; sisters-in-law Isabelle Boucher and Betty Boucher, Harriet Perreault.
