Leonard A. Johnson, 88, died on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN with Reverend Bob Paulson officiating. Burial will be Salem Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, February 20, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service at Oklee, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Monday evening and at the church one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
Leonard Alton Johnson was born on February 24, 1917 in rural Oklee, MN the son of Charly and Mary (Anderson) Johnson. He was baptized at Ebenezer Lutheran Church and confirmed in Alamo, ND, where he also attended school.
Leonard was united in marriage on July 3, 1944 to Margaret Stenberg, at Salem Lutheran Church. Leonard farmed his entire life, raising grain, hay, cattle, horses and sheep.
He loved breaking, riding and driving horses and enjoyed wood carving. Leonard was a member of the American Angus Association, Northwest Stockman Association and served on the Salem Church Council.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Margaret of Oklee, MN; two children: Judy (Dick) Reger of Thief River Falls, MN and David Johnson of Oklee, MN; five grandchildren: Kimberly (Lance) Belgarde, John (Stepheny) Reger, Quinn (Brett) Nelson, Tyler (Laura) Johnson and Courtney Johnson; six great grandchildren: Ryder Belgarde, Parker Belgarde, Brenna Reger, Jordon Reger, James Reger and Alex Nelson; and two sisters: Inga Linder of Plummer, MN and Gladys Magnell of Spearfish, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Albert, Melvin, Art, Clarence and Otto; and two sisters: Josephine Boyd and Selma Nelson.
