Leonard O. Olson, 91, died on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Odyssey Hospice Home in Mesa, AZ.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Church, Goodridge, MN with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at Rosendahl Cemetery, rural Goodridge.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday.

Leonard Orlando Olson was born August 1, 1916 at Grygla, MN, the son of Ole A. and Laura (Vraa) Olson. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Grace Lutheran Church, Grygla, MN and confirmed at Ekelund Church, rural Goodridge, MN. He attended Reiner Township School and on February 21, 1941, Leonard entered the United States Army. He served his country over seas and was honorably discharged October 30, 1945. While in the Army, he ran a crane in Guam and Alaska.

On July 21, 1949, Leonard was united in marriage to Della Peppengar at Minneapolis, MN. The couple lived and worked in Minneapolis. In December, 1970 they moved to Goodridge. Della died in September 1991. For the last 15 years, Leonard was retired from the construction business and spent his winters in Arizona.

He held life membership with the Eagles and VFW, Thief River Falls, MN. He liked to hunt, fish and play whist. He also enjoyed wood working.

Leonard is survived by a daughter, Laura (Jim) Labrec, Minneapolis, MN; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grand children; a sister, Inez Halvorson, Coon Rapids, MN along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by wife, Della; daughter, Lonnie; son, Douglas; brothers, Orvis and Andy and a sister, Lorraine McGinty.
