Leota Scheuring, 86 of New Hope, MN formerly of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at St. Therese Care Center in New Hope, MN. Arrangements with Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at 2:00 PM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy Officiating. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Red Lake Falls, MN.
Visitation will be held on Monday 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 prayer service in Johnson Funeral Service and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Leota Fern Scheuring was born January 11, 1916 at Huron, SD daughter of the late Theodore and Mary Jane (Maxon) Thompson. She moved with her family to St. Hilaire, MN in 1926 then into Red Lake Falls in 1929. She was united in marriage to Alois Scheuring November 26, 1936 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls where she cleaned houses for various people in Red Lake Falls. She worked for a time as a cook at the Elementary School in Red Lake Falls. Alois passed away March 5, 1976. She moved into Sunset Court where she lived for many years. In 1995 she moved to Chisago City, MN and April of 1999 moved to St. Therese Care Center in New Hope, MN where she has since resided.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN and the Guild. Leota was the first to volunteer, serving on the election board and March of dimes and was always there to help people. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning and cooking, watching birds and squirrels.
Leota is survived by her two daughters Jean (Henry) Hankins of Kinnear, WY and Patricia (Hugo) Lindner of Brooklyn Center, MN: two grandsons Brian (Caroline) Lindner and Brent (Catherine) Lindner; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Alois, three brothers Harvey Thompson, Clay Thompson, Don Thompson and one sister Winifred Johnson Burstad.
