LeRoy Clarence Christensen, of Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. LeRoy was born on November 9, 1945, to Clarence Christensen and Sylvia Kliner Diedrich. He was raised in the Euclid, Minnesota area, where he attended elementary school, and Agricultural High School in Crookston.

On his life's journey, LeRoy found both love and purpose. He married Joyce Elaine Martell, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and community. Their marriage was blessed with three children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren who became the pride and joy of his life.

LeRoy spent many years working as a supervisor in the manufacturing industry. He worked at Detroiter Mobile Homes in Red Lake Falls and later at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, where he remained until his retirement. Known for his strong work ethic, practical wisdom, and willingness to help others, he earned the respect of coworkers and friends alike.

A lifelong outdoorsman, LeRoy found great enjoyment in hunting, fishing, trapping, and trap shooting. He was an accomplished fast-pitch softball pitcher and developed a reputation for his skill in precision shooting. One of his greatest joys was sharing his knowledge with younger generations as a volunteer coach for the Red Lake Falls Trap Shooting Team. He was also a member of the Red Lake Falls Trap Club and enjoyed spending time with family and friends around a card table playing Smear.

One of LeRoy’s proudest accomplishments was his 43 years of sobriety.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Joyce Christensen; daughters, Kim (Martin) Anderson of Battle Lake and Brenda (Tim) Gagner of Vergas; brothers, Walter (Joyce) Christensen of Crookston, Everett (Mary) Christensen of Hawley, and Bruce Christensen of Crookston; grandchildren, Tyler (Lynn) Gagner of Battle Lake, Trent (Allyson) Gagner of Alexandria, Brittany (Mitch) Grunig of Marshall, Mara (Kieran) Jones of England, and Dani Anderson of Henning; and great-grandchildren, Kallyn, Nolan, Bennet, Ryker, Rhys, Kendall, and Brooks; and several brother and sister in-law’s, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his beloved son, Shawn Michael Christensen; his parents, Clarence Christensen and Sylvia (Kliner) Diedrich; his stepfather, Leo Diedrich; his brother, Conrad Christensen; his parents-in-law, Fritz and Crystal Martell; brothers-in-law, Louie Martell and Walter Martell; and sister-in-law, Mary Hendrickson.

LeRoy will be remembered for his strength, steady character, devotion to family, and love of the outdoors. Whether teaching a young shooter, sharing stories after a day in the field, or gathering around a card game with family and friends, he made a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on through the family he loved and the many lives he touched.

Service of the Word will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 27, 2026 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota with Father Bob Schreiner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Terrebonne, Minnesota.
