LeRoy Hruby 68, of Oklee, MN was returned to the welcome arms of our Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at his home in Oklee. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN with Father Adam Hamness Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery at Oklee, MN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday. LeRoy James Hruby was born son of Rudolph and Marie (Dessellier) Hruby and Percy Nordrum Sr. on February 3, 1947 in Crookston, MN. He was baptized, received First Communion and was confirmed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN. LeRoy attended and was a 1965 graduate of Oklee Public School. He was active in all Bobcat sports but especially loved playing baseball. In grade school he was given a perfect attendance award. His teacher also awarded him a gift of a small pig bank which he still had and treasured to this day. In 1966 he entered the US Air Force spending his time at radar bases in Chandler and Pipestone, MN and Sault Ste Marie, MI. Once home LeRoy worked for Arctic Cat, Detroiter Mobile Homes but mostly for the Oklee Grain Elevator until health issues forced his retirement. In recent years he helped at the landfill in Oklee and Red Lake Falls. Throughout work and retirement he remained active as a baseball/softball umpire throughout the area. He dabbled a little as a Ref for children's basketball but baseball was always his favorite. As a child delivering the Grand Forks Herald he won a trip to see the Twins play in Minneapolis. He loved to watch not only his children's but grandchildren's activities. On August 11, 1973 LeRoy married his love Dava Jean Olson in Fosston, MN. They were blessed with four children Jamie Scott, Julie Nicole, April Joy and Matthew Ryan. LeRoy is survived by his children Jamie (Bridgette) Hruby of McIntosh, MN, Julie Hruby of Fargo, ND, April (Teddy) Thaden of Dexter, MN, Matthew Hruby of Fosston, MN; Dava Olson-Hruby of Fosston, MN; grandchildren Derrick, Justin and Jenna Hruby, Asiah, Mahaylia, Jasper and Baby girl Thaden, Areanna, Maysen and Keegan Hruby; brothers Robert (Mary Beth) Hruby of Fergus Falls, MN, Jerome (Bernadette Paradis) Hruby of Bemidji, MN, Charlie (Patty) Nordrum, Percy (Laurie) Nordrum Jr. both of Montana; sisters Rosetta Hruby of Oklee, MN, LaVonne (Dennis) Schroeder, Laurie (Glenn) Huestis, Loretta (Keith) Eldridge and Lylas (Neil) McCormick all of Montana; mother-in-law Leoney Olson of Fosston, MN; brothers-in-law David (Sandy) Olson of Gully, MN, Bob Olson of Fosston, MN, Rick (Betty) Olson of Colorado, Jeff Olson of McIntosh, MN; sisters-in-law Brenda Hruby of Phoenix City, AL, Patricia (John) Anderson of Ada, MN, Holly (Chad) Thorssen of Fosston, MN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. LeRoy is preceded in death by fathers Rudolph Hruby and Percy Nordrum Sr. and mother Marie (Desellier) Hruby; brothers Gary Hruby, Mark Hruby and David Nordrum; grandparents Ben and Rose (Edel) Hruby and Andrew and Alexina (Carriere) Dessellier; several aunts, uncles and cousins. We will miss you so very much big brother.
