Obituary

LeRoy Lehnhoff, 83, of Thief River Falls, MN died peacefully with all of his children by his side as he had wished on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be 1 " 2 PM, Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service with a 2 PM funeral procession to Bethesda Cemetery, Marsh Grove Township, Newfolden, MN. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM with Rev. Rob Kopp officiating.

LeRoy Lester Lehnhoff was born April 14, 1927 at Heron Lake, MN the son of Ben and Phebeann (Geffeller) Lehnhoff. LeRoy grew up and attended school in Walnut Grove, MN. On July 25, 1945, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country as a military policeman until 1947 when he was honorably discharged.

On July 6, 1957 LeRoy and his wife Alice were united in marriage. Together, they made their home in Jackson. They lived in several places in Minnesota while raising their family and in 1997 Alice and LeRoy moved to St. Hilaire, MN where they lived until last year. LeRoy and Alice made Thief River Falls their home since then. LeRoys beloved Alice passed away on June 28, 2010. They celebrated 53 years of marriage.

LeRoy enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing anything outside, from mowing the lawn to farming, which was LeRoys favorite job. He often took his family for a Sunday drive to admire all of the beautiful fields. He had a unique sense of humor and passed that on to many of his family members. LeRoy had a knack for fixing anything, especially automobiles. One of his favorite pastimes was watching westerns, which, in LeRoys opinion was the only thing to watch. LeRoy was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia (Timothy) Pyle of Sims, Indiana; daughter, LeAnn (Charles) Pyle of Thermopolis, Wyoming; daughter, Helen Lehnhoff of Thief River Falls, Minnesota; son, Ben Lehnhoff of Green River, Utah; son, Lewis (Betty Lopez) Lehnhoff of Thief River Falls, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice; granddaughter, Erica; his parents; three brothers, Richard, Melvin and Nicholas and three sisters, Evelyn, Gertrude and Dorothy
