LeRoy Ostby, 81 of St. Hilaire, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN with his loving family at his side.

A Gathering Time for Family & Friends will be held from 10:00 AM until Noon on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.

LeRoy Karl Ostby was born September 4, 1937 in Erskine, MN the son of Henry and Rosella (Truehl) Ostby. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith.  LeRoy attended Erskine Public School.

He was married to Janice Steenerson and to this union four children were born, Dale, Paul, Lori and John.

LeRoy worked construction building and fixing grain elevators throughout the upper Midwest until 1982 when he started local trucking. He worked for Durwood Erickson until 1983 and then was hired by the St. Hilaire Elevator to haul seed, grain and fertilizer to area farmers. LeRoy retired first in 2002, couldn't sit still so he went back to work for the elevator for another ten years or so.

On April 18, 1981, LeRoy was united in marriage to Patricia Lindom in Clearbrook, MN. To this union two sons were born, Ryan and Kevin. They lived for a short time in Red Lake Falls before making their home in St. Hilaire.

LeRoy loved following the Minnesota Twins & Vikings, his yard always had to look nice, and he was crafty in the kitchen and a very good handyman. LeRoy enjoyed having coffee with the guys at the elevator. He was a wonderful husband, father & grandfather.

He could be described as stubborn, loving, comical, passionate, accountable, kind hearted man.

Survivors include his loving wife, Pat of Thief River Falls; children, Dale (Roxanne) Ostby, Paul Ostby, Lori (Bruce Woltz) Ostby, John (Marcy) Ostby, Ryan Ostby and Kevin (Crista) Ostby; several grandchildren & great-grandchildren; brothers, Wally (Linda) Ostby and Ronald (Ruth) Ostby; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harvey (Carol) Ostby; sister, Luella Ostby.
