Leslie Folden passed away Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Thief River Falls Care Center in Thief River Falls. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, November 8, 2014 in Evangelical Free Church at Newfolden, MN with Pastor Gary Barrett Officiating. Burial will be held at Folden Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and also one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday. Leslie Odell Francis Folden was born on April 25, 1931 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Bergman and Thorbjor "Tillie" (Aslakson) Folden. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith in Newfolden, MN. Leslie attended school in Newfolden and graduated from Newfolden High School. After graduation from high school, he worked for the REA putting up power poles. Leslie was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Engelsrud on December 14, 1963 at Bethania Lutheran Church. The couple lived and worked on the family farm where they raised small grains, dairy and beef cattle, pigs, chickens. Leslie also sold and hauled Christmas trees, drove beet truck in Drayton, and drove semi with Rolland Amundson hauling grain to Duluth. Leslie and Beverly also worked at the Lokstad Rolling Pin factory for a time. Leslie enjoyed Sunday evening movies in Thief River Falls while in high school. As the years went by, Leslie enjoyed coin collecting, playing cards, hunting, fishing, watching grandkids sporting events, reading and always had an interest in history. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden, MN. Survivors include his loving daughter, Michelle Marie Prestebak of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Adelle Marie (Tyler) Christianson, Adrian Robert Prestebak and Alan Leslie Prestebak; brothers, Donovan (Marilyn) Folden and Eugene (Connie) Folden; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; daughter, Donelle; parents; brother, Howard Folden; and a stillborn brother.
