Lester Muzzy, 84, died Saturday, November 6, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Lester Andrew Muzzy was born July 17, 1920 on the family farm in Excel Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of Nathaniel and Anna (Kisch) Muzzy. He was baptized at St. Bernards Catholic Church and confirmed into the Methodist Faith. He grew up and attended Steiner School and Lincoln High School. Lester stayed to work on the family farm.

On October 2, 1949, Lester was united in marriage to Violet Hanson at Silverton Church. The couple lived on a farm that Lester purchased in 1947 in Excel Township, and where they have lived to the present time. He farmed small grains and raised beef cattle. He and Violet actively farmed until he turned 80. Lester also worked at Arctic for 11 years starting in 1972.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church where he helped to prepare the Messenger. He loved all sports from watching his kids play to watching on TV. He enjoyed traveling, keeping up on current events, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survived by wife, Violet, Thief River Falls, MN; 5 children: Brenda Walberg, Colorado Springs, CO, Kathy (Jerry) Narlock, Corpus Christi, TX, Darrel (Robyn), Woodbury, MN, Mitch (Joanie), Elk River, MN and Laureen (Mark) Johnson, Manvel, ND; 9 grandchildren, Coby Walberg, Aaron and Ryan Muzzy, Samantha, Mike, Caitlin and Mark Muzzy and Kayla and Alyssa Johnson; sisters-in-law, Delores (Ray) Laliberte and Leona Muzzy, all Thief River Falls, MN; several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents; brothers, Russell, Kenneth, James and Erwin and sister-in-law, Darlene Muzzy; and son-in-law, LeRoy Walberg.
