Obituary

Lester Schneider, 77, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on October 9, 2015. A visitation honoring Lester will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Johnson funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Interment will follow at Landstad Cemetery, rural Thief River Falls. Lester Luvern Schneider was born on December 18, 1937 at the St. Luke's hospital in Thief River Falls, MN to Joseph and Helen (Seaverson) Schneider. He was baptized in the O.K. Sevre home and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. He attended school in rural Wyle, MN, Washington Elementary and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN. On January 19, 1955 he entered the United States Navy, serving on numerous Ships and Naval Stations, and was Honorably Discharged in September of 1970. On July 3, 1958, Lester was united in marriage to Dixie Lee Dillinger in Charleston, South Carolina. Following his discharge from the Navy, Les owned and operated Economy Transmissions in Pensacola, Florida. Later he moved to Barrie Massachusetts, where he worked at the Barrie Wool Combing Co. In 1975, he moved to Thief River Falls and worked for Blazek Builders, Ranum Construction, and as a self-employed carpenter. In 1981 Lester was employed at the Occupational Development Center at Crookston and in Thief River Falls, MN, until his retirement in March of 2006. On September 9, 1979 Lester was united in marriage to Janet Wiseman at the Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He enjoyed country music, and also liked designing and inventing special equipment. Lester was very close to his wife, liked to barbeque, and sit out in the backyard. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the American Legion, and a lifelong member of the V.F.W. He was also a very strong believer in the United States of America. Survivors include one son, Luke of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; stepson, Ricky (Sue) Wiseman of Warroad, MN; five grandchildren, Jonathon Christianson of East Grand Forks, MN, Tanya (Joe) Klipping of Red Lake Falls, MN, Elaine (Chris) Jenson Van Dorn of Tottenham ON., Canada, Ricky (Stephanie) Wiseman Jr. Red Lake Falls, MN and Elizabeth Wiseman of Warroad, MN; one special adopted granddaughter, Vicky Christianson; two brothers, Archie (Judy) Schneider of McIntosh, MN and David (Veronica) Schneider of Blaine, MN; stepsister, Irene (Bob) Plough of Spokane, WA; one niece, seven nephews, and ten great-grandchildren; He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet, parents, grandparents, stepfather, Arthur Forsberg, two step brothers, Arthur Jr. (Manny) and Irvin Forsberg, and one niece, Kristin Schneider.
