Lillie Olson, 90, of Newfolden, MN died on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN with Reverend Sheila Michaels officiating. Burial will be at Folden Cemetery, rural Newfolden, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, February 14, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service on Monday evening and also visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Lillie Marion Olson was born on October 4, 1920, the daughter of Albert and Clara (Moen) Moen in Spruce Valley Township, near Middle River, MN. She was baptized in the Christian faith and confirmed that faith in October of 1934. She attended rural Middle River School, graduating from Newfolden High School in 1938. Following school Lillie worked as a Nurses Aid in Thief River Falls.

Lillie was united in marriage to Vernon Olson on November 3, 1945 at her parents home. The couple purchased some land near Newfolden and built a farm, raising cattle, and small grains. Lillie raised her family and helped Vernon on their farm. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, listening to sports and always rooting for the underdog. She also loved to dance and visit with her family and friends. Lillie always looked out for everyone. She enjoyed helping everyone. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and loved to bake for them. Lillie got to see her youngest grandchild shortly before passing.

Lillie was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid and was also a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Lillie is survived by her children Charles (Sherry) Olson, Lyle (Becky) Olson and Bradley (Mona) Olson, all of Newfolden, MN; grandchildren, Jerod (Sarah) and children, Adeline and Everett, Ryan (special friend, Amber) and children, Cody, Austin and Katelyn, Tracy (Chris) and children, Isaiah, Gabrielle, and Lillian, Brandi (Chris) and children, Olivia, Clara and Anika, Corey (Cristina) and Lee and Craig (Kelly) and Carter; sister, Nadine Hunziker of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Ruby Moen of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon in 1993; her parents; brothers, Loren Moen and Kenneth Moen; sisters, Ella Reid, Edith Johanek, Helen Sorenson, and Clarice Palmer; and several sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.
