With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Linda Olson on June 29, 2026, at her beloved home in rural Red Lake Falls, Minnesota. Born on May 12, 1961, in Thief River Falls, Linda’s journey on this earth was defined by her deep sense of love, devotion, and kindness to those she held dear.
Linda’s fondest memory was when she took Eddy Olson’s hand in marriage on March 30, 1985, in Plummer, MN—a day that marked the beginning of over four decades of love, partnership, and shared dreams. Together, their union was blessed with four cherished children: Matthew Olson, Danielle Kvasager, Stephanie Koehler, and Michelle Rubischko. In 1988, Linda and Eddy settled onto the farm, the home and heartbeat of their growing family, a place where seasons changed but love remained constant.
Linda graduated from Pershing High School in Plummer, MN with the class of 1979 and furthered her education by earning an LPN Degree. She began her working career as an LPN at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls before transitioning to Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls. Linda began working at Digi Key in Sales, then to Human Resources, and became a Customer Service Supervisor most recently. She has worked at Digi Key for 21 years, 9 months, and 11 days.
She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN where she was a life-long member. Linda was an accomplished organist and soloist. Throughout the years she has musically led thousands of services and also taught Sunday School. She loved going to the grandkids sports games and programs, gardening, quilting, shopping, diamond dots, Chuck Norris, Barry Manilow, and always had faith in her Minnesota Vikings.
Linda’s nurturing spirit radiated outwards to her ever-growing family. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Eddy Olson; her son, Matthew Olson and daughter-in-law Sara; her daughters, Danielle Kvasager and son-in-law Isaac, Stephanie Koehler and son-in-law Michael, and Michelle Rubischko and son-in-law Otto. Linda’s life was further brightened by her grandchildren: Delilah Johnson, Sam Kvasager, Alexia Olson, Simon Kvasager, Lincoln Rubischko, Calvin Koehler, Cameron Rubischko, Charlotte Rubischko, Ember Koehler, and Olivia Rubischko. Each of them carries forward her legacy of unconditional love, gentle guidance, and joyful celebration of the everyday.Beloved by her siblings, Linda’s gentle influence and unwavering support echoed through her family circle.
She is mourned by her sisters, Florence Tvedt (and brother-in-law Henry), Bonnie Nelson, Shirley Haglund (and brother-in-law John), Jan Wilson (and brother-in-law Tom); her brothers, Marty Hesse (and sister-in-law Val), Steve Hesse (and sister-in-law Gay), Randy Hesse (and sister-in-law Julie); and her extended family members, each of whom felt Linda’s embrace in their own way.
Linda’s parents, Florian and Clara Hesse, preceded her in death, as did her brothers-in-law Duane Nelson and Chuck Glascock, her nephew Marvin Tvedt, and niece Kiara Hesse. Though they are gone from this world, the memories endure through Linda’s family’s stories and recollections.
Linda’s greatest joy was found in life’s simple pleasures: time spent gathered around a kitchen table, the changing seasons on the farm, and the laughter of grandchildren playing. Her compassion, generosity, and boundless warmth were felt by all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt by everyone whose lives she touched.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Linda’s remarkable life during a visitation on July 2, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on July 3, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow the service. Burial will follow at the Emardville Cemetery, rural Plummer, MN.
As we bid Linda Olson farewell, we carry with us the imprint of her steadfast heart—a woman who built a home where love grew strong, whose hands were always busy with care and hugs, whose smile broke open the grayest dawn. Her warmth will be missed, her laughter will echo in our memory, and her story will live on through all who take up the best parts of her and carry them onward into the world.
