Linda Wennberg passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at her Thief River Falls, MN home surrounded by her loving family.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday June 19, 2021 at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Reception for family and friends will follow at the funeral home.

Linda I. Toomey was born on June 12, 1946 in Thief River Falls, MN to Donald and Grace (Grindeland) Toomey. She was raised and educated in Thief River Falls.  She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964 and furthered her education at Northland Community College receiving her degree in Nursing.

On April 20, 1963, she was united in marriage to Dale Wennberg at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls where Linda worked for the school district until 1964 when they moved to Eveleth, MN. They returned to Thief River Falls in the summer of 1965 when they purchased Wennberg Welding and Linda managed the books while raising their two children. Linda began a nursing career in 1981 at Northwest Medical Center where she touched the lives of many.

Throughout the years, Linda shared a special love with the many family dogs.  She had a passion for primitive rug hooking and enjoyed time spent learning and teaching others.  Linda followed Prowler boys and girls hockey, Gopher hockey, MN Wild and the Twins ("especially when her teams were winning")  Most of all, she loved communicating with or spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Linda enjoyed summer trips to her brother's cabin, spending time at her son's lake home and other travels with family and friends.

Linda placed a special importance on maintaining friendships with classmates; Sharon Benson, Carol Dunn, Ellerine Poole, Sherry Solheim, and special friends; Linda Goulet, Pat Hetland and Celeste Hetland.

Linda is survived by Dale, her loving husband of 57 years; children Paul (Julie) Wennberg of Rochester, MN and Karin Sykes of Monticello, IL; grandchildren Erik Wennberg, Adam Sykes, Matthew Wennberg, Elise Wennberg; brother, Richard (Kathy) Toomey of Bagley, MN; brothers-in-law Jon Wennberg of Merrifield, MN and Don Wennberg of Brainard, MN; along with several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Grace Toomey; In-laws, Carl and Hilda (Bugge) Wennberg; and sister-in-law Janice (Hedlund) Wennberg.

The family would like to thank Amanda Englund, RN with Inter County Nursing Services, Mayo Clinic Cardiology, Hospice of the Red River Valley, and the Sanford Medical Center staff.

In lieu of flowers, suggested memorials to be sent to Inter County Nursing Services to provide equipment for local home health patients in need or to the American Heart Association.
