Lloyd Nelson, 81 died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls MN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 12, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will follow at Viking Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Monday at the Johnson Funeral Service.

Lloyd Martin Nelson was born January 7, 1927 at Grand Forks, ND the son Martin and Martha (Kjemhus) Nelson. He grew up in Oslo, MN and attended school there as well. Lloyd stayed home and helped work on the family farm. In the fall of 1949 the family moved to a farm in Numedahl Township and in 1950 moved to another farm in Numedahl Township and Lloyd has continued to live there until moving into the Thief River Care Center in February of 2004.

In the 1950s Lloyd worked beets for several years for Tove Kallock near Oslo, MN.

Lloyd enjoyed living on the farm with his brother, Marvin and in 1990 their brother, Elmer returned from California to live with them. Lloyd enjoyed mowing grass, watching TV, especially the news and weather, and he was a very good cook. He also enjoyed taking care of his sheep and milking cows.

Lloyd also enjoyed gardening, playing the guitar, going for a drive on Sunday afternoon with Marvin, and playing horseshoes. He was a man without words.

He is survived by a sister, Marion (Herbert) Ladwig of Frazee, MN; brother, Marvin Nelson of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Elmer.
