Lloyd Opdahl of Oklee, MN passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN, with Pastor Christy Shellinbarger officiating.  Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Oklee.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday at the church.

Lloyd Jerome Opdahl was born February 25, 1926 son of Andrew and Mabel (Knutson) Opdahl in Hill River Township, Polk County, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Vernes Lutheran Church rural McIntosh MN. He attended Lindsay Country School. He served in the Army during WWII in Japan from 1945 to 1947 when he was honorably discharged.

On August 29, 1954 Lloyd was united in marriage to Ardell Syverson at Vernes Lutheran Church. They lived in Oklee where they raised their three sons. Lloyd loved his family. His children and grandchildren were very important to him.

He worked at the Co-op Service Station and Oklee Elevator in Oklee, MN.

In his early years Lloyd loved deer hunting and considered opening day of hunting a holiday.

He enjoyed playing smear, and was even happier when he won.

Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Ardell of Oklee, MN; children Lyle (Wendy) Opdahl of Hoschton GA, Clyde (Wanda) Opdahl of Larimore, ND and Steven Opdahl of Rochester, MN: grandchildren Nickolette Opdahl of Hoschton GA and Jessica Opdahl of Murphy Utah, step-grandchildren Angela (Dennis) Torkelson and son Travis, Ron (Tanya) Engesether and children Bailey and Logan, Brandon (Sara) Wilson and children Dylan, Ethan and Jack: brothers Wendell (Hilda) Opdahl of Trail, MN and Galen (Betty) Opdahl of Cudahy, WI; along with many nieces and nephews.

Lloyd is preceded in death by an infant son Jerome, sisters Irene Christianson Noyes, Marion Richardson and brothers-in-law Joe Christianson, Ray Richardson and Walter Noyes.
