Lois I. Amundgaard of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 at her home at the age of 91. The memorial service to celebrate Lois's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Argyle, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service on Friday at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Lois I. Nelson was born on April 15, 1924 in Warren, MN to the late Edward and Judith (Engstrom) Nelson. After graduating from Warren High School in 1942 she attended Swedish Nursing School in Minneapolis. She graduated from Nursing School in 1946. On June 7, 1946 she was united in marriage to Everett Amundgaard in Warren, MN. In 1948 they moved to Thief River Falls where the couple made their home. After raising her children she went to work at Falls Clinic. Lois was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Hospital Auxiliary. She was very active in the choir at church, she loved to sing. She enjoyed curling, playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with family and friends. She always wanted to help others in any way that she could. A few of the things that she volunteered to do were: Delivering Meals on Wheels, Volunteering to drive people to and from appointments or assisting them in running errands, Monthly checks for Life Alerts at clients homes. Lois had the ability to light up a room with her beautiful smile and her sparkling eyes. She was an amazing lady that will be missed by many. She is survived by her 3 children, Nancy Peterson and husband Michael of Pelican Rapids, MN, James Amundgaard of Thief River Falls and Tom Amundgaard and friend Carlos Ho of Boynton Beach, FL; 2 grandchildren, Kelly Amundgaard and Kimberly Kostrzewski both of Thief River Falls, MN; 3 great grandchildren, Kempsie Amundgaard of St. Hilaire, Jordan and Ryleigh Kostrzewski both of Thief River Falls. Several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Everett on July 2, 1991; parents, sister Janet Gulden, brothers: Warren and Robert.
