Lois Kemnitz, 74, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with her family by her side.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, May 2, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend John Voelker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service, Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Friday.

Lois Anna Belle Brandon was born on September 12, 1933 in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of Oscar and Helga (Johnson) Brandon. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church at Thief Lake. She grew up on the family farm east of Middle River, MN where she attended country school and Middle River High School.

On June 1, 1950 she was united in marriage to Kermit Albert Kemnitz in Middle River, MN. They moved to Thief River Falls, MN in March of 1951.

Lois was a homemaker and worked as a nurses aid at Northwestern Medical Center for 12 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served on the church council and the Trinity Womens ELCA Board. She also taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and did quilting for many years. Lois especially enjoyed being with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Kermit of Thief River Falls; 3 daughters, Debi Rogalla, Jodi (Norm) Halsa of Thief River Falls, and Kari (Robert) Soens of Decatur, GA; son, Brian (Terri) Kemnitz of Grand Forks, ND; 6 grandchildren, Carter (Leslie) Rogalla, Ryan Rogalla, Rick (Theresa) Donarski, Amy (John) Danielson, Tyler and Aaron Kemnitz; 3 step-grandchildren, Michael (Dena) Halsa, Tony (Lindsey) Halsa, and Tina (Ben) Lange; 4 great granddaughters, Alexa, Haylie, Carlie and Elliot; 4 step-great grandchildren, Nate, Aaron, Molly and Farrah; 2 brothers, Harold (Jean) Brandon of Middle River, MN and Darrell (Avis) Brandon of Thief River Falls, MN; sister, Deloris Brandon of Thief River Falls, MN; sister-in-law Lorene (Elmer) Martini and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Diana; and grandchildren, Robert and Jaclyn.
