Lois E. Larson, 86, died Tuesday September 25, 2012 at Sanford Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, September 28, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Voelker, PhD officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday. Lois Elaine Schjelderup was born on August 8, 1926 to Elmer and Eleanor (Boucher) Schjelderup in St. Paul, MN. She was baptized in the Lutheran Faith, and at the age of five, she and her family moved back to Plummer, MN. She attended school in Plummer and graduated from Pershing High School in 1944. In 1945, she worked at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Security in St. Paul, MN. She then moved to Thief River Falls where she worked at the Thief River Employment Office and at Union State Bank. Lois was united in marriage to Lowell Gordon Larson on June 5, 1948 in Plummer, MN. The couple lived in Thief River Falls. Lois was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls where she was active in many different things for years. She volunteered at the Heritage Center and worked with the RSVP program and recycled greeting cards. Lois will be remembered for making hundreds of trauma bears which were given to children in stressful situations through ambulance, hospital, and law enforcement personnel. Lois loved to spend time in the kitchen and was an avid baker. She spent hours in her yard and gardens. Lois is survived by four children: Arlin Larson of Thief River Falls, MN, Kern Larson of Holt, MN, Terry (Maggi) Larson of Thief River Falls, MN, and Renee Larson of Minneapolis, MN, two grandsons: Michael and James Larson of Thief River Falls, MN, five siblings: Darlene Dimke of Fergus Falls, MN, Gerald (Linda) Schjelderup of Moorhead, MN, Carol Ashley of Ocean Shores, WA, Leslie (Carolyn) Schjelderup of Coal Valley, IL, Sharon Schjelderup, Mounds View, MN, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Lowell in 1995 and her parents.
