Lois M. Nelson Thief River Falls, MN, 80, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN. Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Reverend Carl Hansen. Burial will be at Silverton Lutheran Cemetery, Thief River Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Johnson Funeral Service. Lois Muriel Nelson was born on December 13, 1933 to Norton and Olga (Hegrenes) Nelson at the farm home in Smiley Township. She was baptized on May 10, 1934 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. She grew up on the family farm. As a child of God, she was born with a learning disability. Lois never attended school but always wanted to go to school, so she was really happy to be able to attend the DAC both in Park Rapids, MN for a short time and in Thief River Falls for several years. When her Mother could no longer care for her she lived for a couple years with her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Barb, across the road from the farm. Lois would go for visits and short stays to both of her sisters. She then lived at Hanson Home, and Oakwood Home in Thief River Falls and Northwood Home in Red Lake Falls, MN. On December 27, 2013, Lois moved to Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls. Lois was fun loving, thoughtful of others. Her favorite saying was, "Do you like me? I like you." Lois made many friends and loved to talk to everyone. She liked to yodel and sometime would sing parts of songs. She loved to be where the action was so she could visit and ask questions of staff. Lois is survived by her brother, Dennis (Barb) Nelson of Thief River Falls, MN; sisters, Sharon (Phil) Busch of Akeley, MN and Nelda Carpenter of New Hope, MN; brother-in-law, Robert Bronsdon; nieces and nephews, Jon (Cathy Whitehouse) Bronsdon, Lynn (Rex) Cattanach, Jennifer Bronsdon, Kurt Nelson, Keith (Laurie) Nelson, Dana (Shari Fix) Busch, Darin (Sandy Dostal) Busch, Dean Busch, Lisa (Terry) Pertile, Stacy (Doug) Cashman, Scott (Kathy) Carpenter; 11 great nieces and nephews; 1 great great nephew; aunts, Doris Senstad and Hazel Odin; many cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norton and Olga Nelson; her sister, Jean Bronsdon; many aunts, uncles and other relatives.
