Loraine Steiger, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on February 18, 2016 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND, at the age of 88.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Black River Lutheran Church, rural St. Hilaire, MN, with Rev. Ben Carlsen officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service on Monday, February 22, 2016, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN.  Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at the church.

Loraine Jean Horter was born on June 10, 1927 in Radium, MN, the daughter of Albert and Jeanne (Rusch) Horter.  At a young age, Loraine and her family moved to Thief River Falls.  Loraine attended high school at Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, graduating in 1946.

On March 7, 1948 Loraine was united in marriage to Maurice Steiger in Thief River Falls.  The couple made their home in Black River Township, Pennington County and raised their family of five children.

While living on the farm Loraine was involved with many day-to-day operations that helped keep the farm going.  In 1974 she moved to Thief River Falls.  She worked for Bredeson's and then K-Mart for over 25 years.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing bingo, and visiting with friends and family.

Loraine is survived by two of her children, Bryan (Cindy) Steiger of Red Lake Falls, MN, and Bridget (George) Shaw of Davis, OK; daughters-in-law, Lois Steiger of Savage, MN, and Brenda Moore of Leesburg, FL; grandchildren, Laura (Josh) Clark of Lino Lakes, MN, Kay (Ben) Steiger of Washington, DC, Kelsie (Jeff) Krein of Thief River Falls, MN, Dana (Chelsey) Dallmann of Red Lake Falls, MN, Tracy Dallmann of Detroit Lakes, MN, Rylie Steiger of Red Lake Falls, MN, Jon Steiger of Atlanta, GA, Dominic Steiger of Oceanside, CA, Bambi (Luke) White of Sulphur OK, and Buffy (Greg) Lovelis of Stonewall, OK; adoptive grandchildren, Jamison and Savannah; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Reagan Clark, Alex and Jack Krein, Ayden Larson, Braden Steiger, Haley and Taigen White, and Carsyn and Masen Lovelis; sisters, Elaine (Robert) Ottinger of San Antonio, TX, and Bernice Mason of Moline, IL; brother-in-law, Kermit Mason of Ohio and sister-in-law, Ramona Horter of Grafton, ND, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by children, Brenda, Bruce, and Bradley Steiger; granddaughter, Megan Steiger; her parents; brothers, Daniel, Cliff, and Vern; and sisters, Polly, Lucy, Delores, and Janice.
