Lorena Lasha of Thief River Falls, MN, died peacefully on January 18, 2013, at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN with her girls by her side. She was 95 years of age. May her memory be blessed. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Lorena L. Lasha was born on November 19, 1917, in Red Lake Falls, MN to the late Paul and Sophia (Violette) LaCoursiere. She grew up in Red Lake Falls, graduated from high school at Mt. St. Benedict in Crookston and received her teaching certificate at Bemidji State University. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Lasha, on November 15, 1948, in Red Lake Falls, MN. They resided in Thief River Falls and raised their three daughters, Debbi, Bobbi and Michelle. Lorena was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse for several years and she loved teaching. After moving to TRF, she worked at the ASCS office but spent most of her career at Sjoberg's Cable T.V. until retiring in 1988. Lorena and Bob loved to travel and explore, they loved being with their children and grandchildren and they were faithful members of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Lorena was involved in the St. Bernard's Guild, Catholic Daughters, National Society of Foresters and her church Circle. She had a wonderful group of friends and nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and baking bread, and she definitely had an eye for fashion. She will be greatly missed by her three daughters: Debbi (Jerome) Engen, Bobbi (Gary) Jordet and Michelle (Brad Curran) Lasha; eight grandchildren: Lezlie (Jason) LaVoy, Mike (Becca) Jordet, Jeremy (Heather) Engen, Jason (Robin) Engen, Tracy (Mike) Kloety, Nathan Jordet, Brendon Engen and Tyler (Erin) Curran; nine great grandchildren: Emily, Andrew, Sydney, Lucas, Wylie, Rachel, Derek, Gracie and Aaron; one sister, Sr. Joan LaCoursiere, OSB and one sister-in-law, Sr. Laurian Lasha, OSB, of Crookston, MN and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on September 3, 1989, two brothers (Victor and Emery LaCoursiere), four sisters (Elma Ford, Beulah Marleau, Viola LaCoursiere and Sr. Cuthbert LaCoursiere, OSB), sister-in-laws, Doris Goulet, Noella Audette, Bernice Lasha and brother-in-law Buzz (C.P.) Lasha.
