Lorena Westerlund, 93, died on Sunday, December 12, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, Thief River Falls, MN.
Lorena Viola Greenwald was born on May 11, 1911 near Plummer, MN the daughter of John and Anna (Christensen) Greenwald. She attended Country School and grew to adulthood in the Plummer area.
Lorena was united in marriage on November 10, 1932 to Gust Westerlund. The couple lived and farmed in the Plummer area their entire life. She moved into Minnesota Greenleaf in Thief River Falls in July of 2004.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Aid in Plummer, MN, Plummer Senior Citizens, Quilting Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Lorena enjoyed quilting, sewing, needle work and she loved cooking, writing poems and reading.
Lorena is survived by one son, David (Mable) Westerlund of Hilton Head, South Carolina; one grandchild, Colleen (David) Pike of Westbrook, Maine; one brother, Howard (Margaret) Greenwald of Plummer, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gust on October 23, 1989; her parents; daughter, Mary Lou Westerlund; brother, Walter Greenwald; and sister, Myrtle Malwitz.
