Obituary

Louella DuChamp, 88, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Oakland Park Nursing Home, Thief River Falls, MN.

Louella Elvina DuChamp was born January 12, 1917 in rural Red Lake County, Plummer, MN, the daughter of Hans and Anna (Johnson) Berg. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Elementary School in Plummer and graduated from Pershing High School in Plummer, in 1936. Louella worked for a short time after graduation at her aunts restaurant and hotel in Oklee, MN. Later she was employed at Red Lake Conservation Office, Red Lake Falls for three years.

On December 28, 1940 Louella was united in marriage to Wallace J. DuChamp in Thief River Falls, MN. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls for seven years. In 1947 they moved to Plummer and owned and operated the Hartz Store for 27 years.

In 1974 Louella and Wallace returned to Thief River Falls. Wallace died May 23, 1986 and Louella continued to make her home in Thief River Falls.

Louella was a member of United Methodist Church and was devoted to all church activities. She was also a member of UMW Circles and Bible Studies at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plummer and United Methodist Church, Thief River Falls. She enjoyed reading a chapter in the Bible daily, entertaining friends and relatives, crocheting, sewing, making mints for weddings, flower gardening, working cross word puzzles, music, singing, bowling, baseball games and attending Christian Womens Club.

Survived by four daughters: Carole (Lee) Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN, Dianne (Ken) Blofield, Burnsville, MN, Charlene (Rodney) Myhre, Thief River Falls, MN and Debra (Wayne) Vettleson, Trail, MN; nine grandchildren: Todd (Tammy) Johnson, St. Hilaire, MN, Tari (Jerry) Neppl, Baltimore, MD, Tiffany Blofield, Minneapolis, MN, Chad (Julie) Blofield, Shakopee, MN, Talia (Joel) Mitzner, Trail, MN, Wyatt (Miranda) Vettleson, Trail, MN, De Andrea Vettleson, Grand Forks, ND, Shane (Jessica) Myhre, Thief River Falls, MN, and Sabrina Heaton, Thief River Falls, MN; two great grandsons: Kenton Johnson and Lucas Blofield; four great granddaughters Sophia Neppl, Olivia Blofield, Amelie Heaton and Aurora Mitzner; three sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by husband, Wallace on May 23, 1986; parents; one brother, Melvin Berg; two sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; two nephews; grandparents; aunts, uncles and cousins.
