Louis Krueger Sr., 90, died Thursday September 13, 2012 at Sanford Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN Funeral services will be 11 AM, Thursday September 20, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor David Fish officiating. Visitation will be 10 - 11 AM, Thursday September 20, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Louis Maynard Krueger was born on August 28, 1922 in Kerkhoven, MN to Edward Frank Henry and Anna Elizabeth (Volentine) Krueger. The family was farmers and they moved to Roseau when Louis was a young boy at the age of 12. He attended country school at the School District 27E through the 8th grade. At the age of 17 years old, he bought his first piece of land in Falun Township, Roseau County. That is where he started his love of the land and farming. He married Helen Przekwas in 1944 in Hallock, MN and to this union 3 children were born: MaryAnn, Louie Maynard II, and JoAnn. He expanded the farm over the years but in 1958 he went to work in the paper mills in International Falls. He worked there for over 29 years retiring in 1987 from Boise Cascade. During those years, he also helped with the farming on days off. After retiring he moved to Thief River Falls and has lived there ever since. He married Sally V. Durohom in August of 2006. They continued to make their home in rural Thief River Falls. Louis loved the land and enjoyed watching from the time the crops were planted until their final harvest. He also enjoyed all types of hunting. He kept his yard up and always planted a large garden. He and his wife Sally spent many hours together tending the gardens. He was a member of the NRA and a former member of the Thief River Falls Eagles Aerie. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He is survived by his wife Sally, Thief River Falls, MN, the mother of his children Helen Krueger, 3 children: MaryAnn Ekeren, Roseau, MN, Louis M. Krueger II, Hibbing, MN, JoAnn Burkel, Roseau, MN, grandchildren: Jeffrey Thrane, Front Royal, VA; Gary Gross, Roseau, MN, Louis M. Krueger III, Thief River Falls, MN, Larry Gross, Roseau, MN, Wayne Krueger, International Falls, MN, Mike Krueger, Roseau, MN, Victor Krueger, Georgia, Max Krueger, Thief River Falls, MN, Fred Blinsmon, Grand Forks, ND, 13 great grandchildren, one brother Earle Krueger, Erskine, MN, and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Anna Krueger, sister Lucille Phillips, brother Melvin Krueger, son in law Michael Thrane, two sisters in law: Leola Krueger and Hazel Krueger, and one niece Janet.
