Louise Breznay of Thief River Falls, MN age 94, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, September 28, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Monday. Louise Frances Ptacek was born on June 26, 1921 in Mavie, MN the daughter of Albert and Mary (Hruby) Ptacek. She grew up in Cloverleaf Township and attended Goodridge High School. After graduation, she attended Normal School in Thief River Falls, MN and taught in a country school for two years. Louise married George Breznay on February 9, 1940 and they made their home with their family in Mavie. Louise worked at the Red Owl and Montgomery Ward's Stores prior to starting work at Northern State Bank in Thief River Falls. She retired from the bank after 36 years in personal banking and as an auditor. Louise was a 25 year leader of the Mavie 4-H Club and inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame. She earned a trip to the National Leadership Conference in Washington DC. She was a life member of the VFW and Eagle's Clubs in Thief River Falls and served as president of the Auxiliary for both clubs. Louise also called bingo for 38 years for both clubs. Louise enjoyed gatherings with her family, gardening, sewing, crocheting, reading, playing cards and bingo. Survivors include her children, Ernest (Shari) Breznay of Detroit Lakes, MN and Marie Breznay of Thief River Falls; grandchildren, Mike of Golden, CO, David of Fargo, ND, Chris of Denver, CO, Chad of Bozeman, MT; great-grandchild, Alexandra of Anoka, MN; brother, Harold Ptacek of Babbitt, MN and her nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, George; an infant twin son; brothers, Raymond, Archie and Wallace Ptacek.
