Louise Fisher, 85, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at Oakland Park Nursing Home, Thief River Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 5, 2002, at St. Bernards Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, MN, with Father Tim McGee presiding. Burial will be in St. Bernards Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, October 4, 2002 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, MN with 7:30 P.M. Rosary with a prayer service to follow. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to Mass on Saturday.

Louise Mary Rolland was born June 23, 1917 at Grand Plain Township, Marshall County, Minnesota, the daughter of Seraphine and Augustine (Andrieux) Rolland. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith in Mavie, MN and attended Germantown Elementary School. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls in 1934. Following High School she attended Bemidji State Teachers College, receiving her AA Teaching Degree in December, 1936. Louise taught in rural schools in the Goodridge area for four years. On June 8, 1940 Louise was united in marriage to Edward Fisher at St. Anns Catholic Church, Goodridge, MN. The couple farmed near Goodridge, MN until 1950, when they moved into Thief River Falls.

Louise, a devoted wife and mother, raised her ten children in the Catholic Church, teaching them about love, sharing, caring, and being your own person. She passed along her love of reading, gardening, birds and flowers. When time allowed she loved to paint and draw.

She was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church, where she was active in the Guild and Catholic Daughters. Louise was very instrumental in developing the Falls Day Activity Center (D.A.C.) in Thief River Falls and served on the board for the Falls D. A. C. and Association for Retarded Citizens (A.R.C.) for many years.

Louise is survived by her nine children: James (Janet) Fisher, Thief River Falls, MN; Mary Lou (Harold) Jasken, Alexandria, MN; Gene (Sheila Kendro) Fischer, San Diego, CA; Veronica Fisher, Asheville, NC; Marty Fisher, San Diego, CA; Ann Marie (Douglas Kreider) Fisher, Kaneohe, HI; Virginia (John Canfield) Fisher, Comptche, CA; Jerry (Peg Edel) Fisher, San Diego, CA; Judith Mary Fisher, Thief River Falls, MN; 10 grandchildren: Steve Fisher, Molly Dahlin, Patrick Fisher, Michael Fisher, Jane Whalen, Chris Jasken, Ron Jasken, Julie Jenson, Tiffany Anne Fisher-Love, Shannon Fischer-Kendro, 28 great grandchildren, and one sister, Mary Rubash, New Lisbon, WI.

Preceded in death by parents; husband, Edward in 1996; daughter, Florence Ann; son, Cyril; sisters, Lucy Rolland and Augustine Rolland, brother, Marcel Rolland; daughter-in-law, Beverly Fisher; grandson, Michael Jasken, and brother-in-law, Gust Rubash.
