Lowell Hetland, 82, died Friday, January 10, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, January 20, 2003 at Johnson Green Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with Reverend Tim Bauer officiating.

Lowell Hetland was born August 1, 1920, at Gonvick, MN, the son of Mandel and Grace (Charleston) Hetland. He grew up and attended school in Gonvick. He worked in the Conservation Corp and later entered the United States Army. During World War II, he was stationed in England.

After his discharge, Lowell was united in marriage to Cynthia Green, on May 5, 1947. The couple lived in Minnesota, Idaho, Montana and Washington before moving to Newfolden in 1968, where they have since resided. Lowell worked in construction, insulating houses, through a Government Program and also worked on a dairy farm.

Survivors include daughters, Loretta (John) Stevens, Sandpoint, ID and Patricia Moss, Battle Mountain, NV; sons, Michael and Darrell Hetland, Newfolden, MN; grandchildren, Casandra, Sherry, Darold Jr., Jessica, Shannon and Heather; several great grandchildren; sister, Lois Lundy, Arizona; brothers, Carrol (Janet) Hetland, Gonvick, MN and Mel (Edith) Hetland, Washington.

Preceded in death by wife Cynthia on October 10, 1996 and parents.
