Lucille Alvina Nowacki was born April 17, 1926, at her parents' home in Alma Township, rural Argyle, MN. Lucille was the tenth child born to Frank and Pauline (Wirkus) Nowacki. She had six brothers and three sisters. Besides her immediate family, she had many cousins.
Lucille graduated from Argyle High School in 1944. Following graduation, she accepted an office position. Lucille was married to Maynard Haugen in 1947. Maynard passed away in 1948. Four years later she married Daryl Haugen (cousin of her first husband). Daryl passed away in 1987. A son was born to her and Maynard. She and Daryl had three daughters.
As the years went on and the children were in school, Lucille returned to work and retired in 1987 with twenty-four years of service with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Since retirement, Lucille had been busy maintaining the family farm, and was, also, actively involved in several church & community services. In March of 2016, she moved in with her daughter, Deborah, & son-in-law, Jerome, and lived under their care until August 2019, when she became a resident at the Karlstad Healthcare Center. Lucille enjoyed grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Lucille made it known that she would want her obituary to "focus on the Lord" and not on her. The gift of eternal life that God gives to all who choose to accept it and repent of their sin and follow Him are given the Holy Spirit to guide them on their journey through this life. Her life was evidence of her acceptance of this gift through her love for the Lord, her daily relationship with Him, through spending time in prayer and reading the Bible. Her life has been an example of a true Christ-follower and testimony of the Holy Spirit living in her. She lived her life with the fruits of the Spirit being displayed through her hospitality to her family and friends. At the end of her life dementia robbed her of the ability to remember all that was, but the Holy Spirit living in her radiated from her through her continued display of kindness, meekness, gentleness and humility.
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." John 10:27-29 KJV
Lucille is survived by her son, Curtis (Marilyn) Haugen, Madison, WI; daughter, Deborah (Jerome) Boen, Strandquist, MN; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, & 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husbands, Maynard Haugen & Daryl Haugen; her daughters, Martha Hultstrand (2002) & Rebekah Valdez (2015); her parents; her brothers, John, Allen, Edmund, Frank, Norbert, & Raymond Nowacki and sisters, Florence Banaszewski, Berniece Prondzinski, & Lorraine Bieniski; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Hultstrand and infant great-grandchildren.
