Obituary

Lucille Pahlen of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015 surrounded by her loving family on arrival to the Hospital in Baudette, MN. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 AM on Friday, July 10, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Bill DeCrans Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to the service on Friday. Lucille Adelaide Pahlen was born October 6, 1923 daughter of the late Charles and Celia (Buckman) Sewill near Angus, MN. She was raised on a farm in the Euclid, MN area. She attended school in Crookston graduating in 1941. She worked for the North West Ag School in the soup kitchen. On December 29, 1942 she was united in marriage to John Pahlen at Fisher, MN. The couple traveled while he was in the Army, it gave her the opportunity to see New York City, Washington DC and Tacoma, WA. Of all the sights seen she thought of Arlington National Cemetery as the most impressive. Following his discharge the couple lived for a short time in Crookston and in 1948 they moved to Euclid where they farmed. The family moved into Red Lake Falls, MN in 1976. Lucille moved to Sunview Center in Red Lake Falls in 1997 and the past 8 months she lived at the Thief River Care Center. Lucille was employed at Simplot at Crookston, MN, the sewing factory in Warren and Oklee, MN, Detroiter Mobile Home in Red Lake Falls, MN, LSS dining center and in her 80's she was driving for RTC. Lucille was the past Treasurer for Sunview Resident Council. She received Volunteer of the year award in 2002 from the LSS Senior Nutrition Program, Red Lake Falls Housing and Redevelopment Authority and Red Lake County Social Services. In 2008 Lucille was presented with the LSS Senior Nutrition Program Hall of Fame award for her dedication and commitment to volunteerism. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, canning, baking, bingo, playing cards, spending time with family at the lake and spending time with her special Sunview family. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the church guild, the Red Hat Society. She is survived by her children Cecelia (Arthur) Klipping, Randy (Jeanine) Pahlen, Glenn Pahlen, Frank (Bonnie M.) Pahlen, Laura (Curt) Beyer, Valerie (Darin) Myhre all of Red Lake Falls, MN, Linda Hanson (Keith Fuller) of Mentor, MN; daughter-in-laws Bonnie J. Pahlen and Renae (Steve) Philipp of Red Lake Falls, MN: 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Brother Donald Sewill and sister Eunice (Lee) Schuldt, brother-in-law Myles Drellack and sister-in-law Rena Pahlen. She is preceded in death her parents, husband John Pahlen, son's Donald, Gary, Theodore, and Timothy. Son-in-law Delbert Schultz, grandson Darin Klipping, brothers Kenneth, Cecil, Darrell, Sydney and sister Lois Sewill.
