Obituary

Luverne LeDoux, 83, died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Riverview Nursing Home, Crookston, MN.


Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Chuck Huck Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Red Lake Falls.

Visitation will be held on Monday 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.


Luverne LeDoux was born September 18, 1926 in Belfield, ND son of the late Leo and Rose (Richards) LeDoux. The family moved from Beltrami, MN. and then to a permanent farm 10 miles south of Red Lake Falls in 1935. Luverne attended rural schools and worked on the family farm. He began his call of flying in 1944, at Crookston airport with the Severson Flying School.

On February 3, 1948 he was united in marriage to Margaret DeHaan in Red Lake Falls, MN. They moved to Inglewood, CA where he attended California Flyers School of Aeronautics. He worked at Capital Aviation, Bismarck, ND. for a short period of time. Wanting to be closer to home he was offered a job at the Kirkwood Airport to be the operator and mechanic at Crookston from 1957 to 1965. He moved his family and business to Red Lake Falls and started LeDoux Aviation at the old airport north of town until 1978. After closing the old airport he went to work at Ely, MN, KY and WA. Luverne and Margaret returned back to Red Lake Falls in 1991 and finally retiring in 2004.

Luverne invented an aircraft engine Spark Plug Gapper that was sold world wide. He held an airplane mechanics A&P and A&I license and did major engine overhauls, fabric work and rebuilt many aircraft over 55 years. Luverne and Margaret enjoyed time together fishing, traveling and playing games with their family, grandchildren and friends.

He is survived by his children John (Ginger) LeDoux of Lancaster, MN, Linda LeDoux of Aurora, CO, Sue (Kim) Domier of Sioux Falls, SD, and JoAnn LeDoux of Woodlands, TX. Six grandchildren named Sarah, Renee, Laura, Dana, Chris, and Lelan; two great-grandchildren Ashley and Benjamin; one brother Wilbert (Remy) LeDoux of Shelton, WA and several nieces and nephews.

Luverne is preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret in 1998, sister Evelyn Kolodge and brother Don LeDoux.
