Lydia Moritz, 87, died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, January 23, 2006 at Evangelical Covenant Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Merrill Kindall officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be 2 " 5 PM, Sunday, January 22, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with a 5 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Monday.
Lydia Greening was born July 3, 1918 at Neche, ND, the daughter of Edward and Elsie (Hildebrant) Greening. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Neche and attended Neche school.
On October 9, 1937, Lydia was united in marriage to Henry Kiemile. Henry died October 22, 1946. On June 10, 1949, she married Orville Moritz at Cavalier, ND. Orville died October of 1993.
In her early years, Lydia worked as a housekeeper, homemaker and farmers wife. She loved gardening, baking, quilting and entertaining family and friends. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lydia was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church and active in the Ladies Aid. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Lydia is survived by 2 sons, Howard (Mary) Kiemile, Adams, WI and Ronald Moritz, Thief River Falls, MN; 2 daughters, Marlene (Jerry) Sauve, Red Lake Falls, MN and Linda (Bruce) Hanson, Willmar, MN; six grandchildren, Colleen, Dale, Connie, Bryan, Timothy and Daniel; 8 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Annie Soderfelt, Drayton, ND, Hulda OHara, Montain, ND and Hattie (Ed) Henschel, Grafton, ND; 2 brothers, Gus Greening, Holland MI and Kenneth Greening, Prior Lake, MN.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Henry and Orville; parents and a brother, Art Greening.
