Lyla attended elementary school in St. Hilaire; and Franklin Middle School and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.
Following school, Lyla became the proud mother of Audrya and Casey and they lived for a short time in California. They returned to St. Hilaire in 1987 where Lyla was able to care for her mother and family while living on the family farm. She also returned to school and graduated from Northland Community College with a degree in Human Services.
In 1990, Lyla found the love of her life, Gary Mosbeck. They were married on December 7, 1996 at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire, and the couple continued to make their home west of St. Hilaire.
Lyla worked at Johnson-Greenline, which later became Evergreen Implement in Thief River Falls for the last 18 years. Lyla was a member of Black River Lutheran Church and Calvary Lutheran Church. She was active and very supportive of activities in St. Hilaire, and enjoyed clerking for Ron McKercher.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and crafts together with her family. Lyla loved spending time with her grandchildren; and had a tradition of getting together with her sisters once a week. She was very artistic and creative like her mother and was her mothers biggest critic. Lyla and Gary worked very hard together building and decorating their beautiful home. Lyla had a great smile and a positive attitude; she was a hard working and dedicated person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Lyla was best described by Gary as one hell of a lady!
