Our beloved mother, Lyla M. Vacura, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Lilac Homes in Dilworth, MN.

Lyla was born February 4, 1935 in East Park Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Lloyd and Clara Hansen.  She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Viking, MN.  She graduated from Newfolden High School in 1952.  After high school, Lyla was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.

On June 18, 1954, Lyla was united in marriage to Maynard Troland in Viking, MN.  To this union three children were born.  She married Emil Vacura Jr. in 1980 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN.  The couple lived in Thief River Falls where Lyla worked at Valley Home, Best Western and Northwest Medical Center, where she worked in housekeeping for 11 years.

Lyla is survived by her children, Lana (Carter) Schultz, Casselton, ND and Mark Troland, Fridley, MN; four grandchildren, Brandon (Alyssa) Troland, White Bear Lake, MN, Angela Troland, Roseville, MN, Kevin Schultz, Goshen, IN and Steven Schultz, West Fargo, ND; two great grandchildren, Madison and Ben; three brothers, Duane (Barb) Hansen, Mora, MN, Dave Hansen, Solway, MN, Larry (Debbie) Hansen, Round Rock, TX, sister-in-law Margaret (Reynold) Grothe, White Bear Lake, MN, several nieces and nephews and special friend, Betty Amiot .

She was preceded in death by husband, Emil, on August 12, 2002, her parents, daughter, Lori Ann, nephew Ken Hansen and niece Marie Moen.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1300 E. Nora Street, Thief River Falls with Rev. Stephanie White officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before services.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
