Obituary

Lyle Dennis Groslie, 68, died Sunday, July 8, 2007 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until time of services on Thursday at the church.

Lyle Dennis Groslie was born September 10, 1938 in Thief River Falls, MN the oldest of five children born to Leroy and Doris (Langer) Groslie. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Lyle attended Knox Elementary School and Lincoln High School where he graduated from in 1957.

Following high school, Lyle served in the Army National Guard based in Thief River Falls and also served as a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes in the 1960s.

Lyle was united in marriage to Gaileen Solheim on June 28, 1969 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. To this union, three children were born, Eric and the twins, Jill and Beth.

He worked at Evans Steel, Newkirk Construction in Thief River Falls and then went to work at Forsbergs Inc. starting in 1972 and officially retired in 2003. Following his retirement, Lyle continued to work on a casual basis for Forsbergs.

Lyle enjoyed fishing at Lake-of-the-Woods, hunting, and spending time with family at the cabin at Maple Lake. In his retirement, Lyle was a very proud Grandpa. He was a kind, caring person.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and was active with Troop 59 in the scouting program when his son, Eric was involved in the program.

Survivors include his wife, Gaileen of Thief River Falls; son Eric Groslie of Thief River Falls; daughters, Jill (Shayne) Anderson of Thief River Falls and Beth (Kevin) Halme of Middle River, MN; 2 grandchildren, Gracie and Seri; mother, Doris Groslie of Thief River Falls; sister, Julie (Ron) Madison of Brainerd, MN; brother, Steve Groslie of Thief River Falls; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leroy; brothers, Larry and George; and two nephews, Mike Madison and Mark Groslie.
