Obituary

Lyle Mandt, 75 died Wednesday, July 09, 2008 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Oak Park Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN with Rev. Joseph Abrahamson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Friday, July 11, 2008 at Oak Park Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until time of services on Saturday at the church.

Lyle Ordean Mandt a prominent poultry businessman was born April 14, 1933 in Deer Park Township at home to parents, Louis and Otelia (Lundeen) Mandt. He was baptized at home with his twin brother, Lowell. He was confirmed at Oak Park Lutheran Church. He attended country school at District 52 and graduated from the Agriculture School of Crookston, MN in 1951.

He married Muriel Magnell on June 18, 1954 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church by Rev. Wilhelm Peterson. Lyle was a member and held different positions at Oak Park Lutheran Church which included being on the building committee for the new church in 1976. Lyle and Muriel were in the poultry business, River Valley Enterprises Inc. for 40 years. They owned a hatchery at Dassel, MN and a breeder farm at Darwin, MN. they raised pullets (1 day to 20 weeks) at 2 farms for egg producers in MN, ND, SD, NE, IA, WI, WA, CA, AZ, and Canada. They also had 3 egg producing farms and a feed mill for a number of years.

Lyles passion was flying his own airplane. Lyle and his son, Lance, had a Cherokee 4 place Turbo Arrow plane which was used for attending poultry meetings and conventions. Also some travel to many states in the U.S. and the Bahamas, and medical trips to Minneapolis and the Mayo Clinic and Hospital in Rochester and Fargo, ND for family and friends. Lyle and Muriel spent 18 winters at their home in Las Vegas, NV where family and friends were welcomed and accommodated.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Muriel of Oklee, MN; daughter Mari Lynn (Greg) Klesk of Maple Grove, MN; daughter-in-law, Vickie Mandt of Gull Lake, MN; sister, Carol (Dean) Schneider of Lake Mills, WI; grandchildren, Rachael (Rod) Olson of Mentor, MN, Leigh (Tisha) Mandt of Coon Rapids, MN, Rebecca, Jessica and Nicholas Klesk of Maple Grove, MN; great-grandchildren, Brianna Sandeen and Emily Olson of Mentor, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrow and Shirley Lundeen of Trail, MN, Dellas and Violet Disrud of Fosston, MN, and Corlan (Bob) Kleinschmidt of Brownton, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Lowell; son, Lance; grandson, Lucas Mandt; and brother-in-law, Charles Magnell.

Lyle Mandt died on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, MN at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 25 days. May his memory be blessed.
