OBITUARY FOR LYLESS DOKKEN
RED LAKE FALLS, MN (FORMERLY OF ROSEAU, MN)
Lyless Dokken, 80, died on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 16, 2002 at Pinecreek Lutheran Church, rural Roseau, MN with Reverend Gary Graff officiating. Burial will be in Pinecreek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 15, 2002 at the Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Friday evening and at the church for one hour prior to services on Saturday.
Lyless Laurine Dokken was born on July 19, 1921 in Clearbrook, MN, the daughter of Lawrence and Laura (Kvien) Johnson. She lived with her family at Pinecreek, MN where she attended rural School. Lyless graduated from Roseau High School in 1939.
On December 15, 1942 Lyless was united in marriage to Gilmore Dokken in Fresno, CA. Following the war the couple returned to Minnesota. She worked as Postmaster at the Pinecreek, Minnesota Post Office and later as an insurance clerk at the Delmore Clinic in Roseau, retiring in 1986. After her husbands death in 1992, she moved into Roseau. She had resided at Hillcrest Nursing Home since November, 1997.
Lyless was a member of Ross School Board District #683 and was very active in church activities, including the Pinecreek Ladies Aid. She was an avid reader, 4-H leader for many years, enjoyed word games and traveling, but especially loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Lyless is survived by one daughter, Sandra (Allen) Bertilrud, Red Lake Falls, MN; three sons: Lynn (Diane), Montgomery, MN, Jeff, Sauk Rapids, MN and Brad, Grand Forks,ND; six grandchildren; Andrea Novak, Tim Dokken, Allison Bertilrud, Andrew Bertilrud, Shauna Dokken, Noel Dokken: and three great grandchildren Marissa, Gabrielle and Briana.
She was preceded in death by by her husband, Gilmore; and her parents Lawrence and Laura Johnson.
