Mabel Lemky, 90 of Thief River Falls, MN died on Sunday August 5, 2012 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM in Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Thief River Falls with Larry Myhrer Officiating. Burial will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery at Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and also one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Mabel Alvina Mathson was born October 7, 1921 daughter of the late Martin and Alma (Moe) Mathson at the family home in Rocksbury Township near Thief River Falls. She was confirmed at St. Pauli Church. She attended rural one room school through the 8th grade. There was also a young man by the name of Curtis Lemky attending the school. Many years later Curtis returned home from Spokane, WA to visit family and friends when Mabel and Curtis were reunited. In 1948 Mabel and Curtis were united in marriage, the couple moved to Spokane and lived there until Curtis finished his service in the Air Force. After his honorable discharge they returned to Thief River Falls where she lived in the same home for 56 years. Mabel enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She had a love for old-time country music. She is survived by her daughter Charlotte Lemke of Thief River Falls, Grandson Sam of Thief River Falls, brother Clayton (Inez) Mathson of Thief River Falls, sister Fern Buck of Viking, many nieces, nephews and cousins including Gladys Halstrom of St. Hilaire and Melvin Vigan of Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband Curtis, sons Eddy Dean Lemky and Max Wayne Lemky; parents Martin and Alma and brothers in law Donald Peters and Frank Buck.
