Mabel Madge Peters, 87 of Seattle WA formerly of Mentor, MN died on July 28, 1998 at Crista Senior Community in Seattle WA. Arrangements with Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 1998 at 11:00 AM in St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Curtis Brooks Officiating. Burial will be held in the Rosehill Cemetery near Mentor, MN.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 " 8 PM at the Petterson Funeral home in Red Lake Falls, MN with a 7:30 prayer service and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Mabel Madge Grover was born June 19, 1911 in McPherson County, Nebraska daughter of John William and Minnie May (Booze) Grover. Mabel moved to Minnesota with her family in a covered wagon in 1923. She was married to Elmer Louis Peters on October 1, 1932 in Crookston, MN. They made their home and farmed in the Mentor area for 62 years until she moved to Washington to live with her daughter. Elmer passed away October 26, 1985.
Mabel loved people, especially young people, crafts and gardening. Her last job was as a volunteer with the Recreation Therapy Department at a local nursing home, encouraging others to participate.
She is survived by her daughter LaVerne Gemar (Jerold) of Edmonds, WA: sisters Virgie Wahl of Quamba, MN; Billie Turner of Spooner, WI; Crystal Desrosier of Silver Bay, MN and Freda Stanley of Olympia, WA: three grandchildren Jeffrey Gemar (Kerri) of Superior, CO; Randal Gemar (Sandra) of Hot Springs, AR and Amy Gemar of Seattle, WA: numerous nieces and nephews and many adopted grandchildren.
Her parents, one brother and her husband Elmer precede her in death.
