Mabel Irene Seeger, 88 of Mentor, MN died on Saturday, June 12, 1999 at her home on Maple Lake.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 17, 1999 at 10:30 AM in Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN with Reverend Robert Paulson Officiating. Burial will be held in the Zion Cemetery Oklee, MN.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 Prayer service at the Petterson Funeral Home in Oklee and also one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Mabel Irene Seeger was born January 30, 1911 in Oklee, MN daughter of Andrew and Caroline (Bondy) Rolandson. She grew up at Roland, MN which was named for her family, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and attended country School. She worked at the Roland Store for her brother Knute for a number of years and then went into the restaurant business for many years with her sister Agnes in Oklee. She also helped out her brother Art at his store in Gully, MN. On April 18, 1938 she was united in marriage to Bill Seeger of Oklee, MN, where they lived and operated Seegers hardware and furniture for 35 years.
She and Bill were instrumental in starting and operating Oklees first recreation and bowling center with partners Alfred and Clara Berg.
She was and active member of the Zion Lutheran Church and Circles, held many offices and was also very active in various community work over the years and also in the March of Dimes.
Mabel maintained and enjoyed a close relationship with her family, nieces and nephews even though scattered in a number of States. She loved company and her home at Maple Lake was a Home away from Home for many. She was the person who always remembered everyones birthday and special occasions. She enjoyed her lake home, garden and flowers. She died with daisies in her hand coming from her garden, very peacefully.
Mabel wrote that she wanted to give thanks to God for all the wonderful years and blessings, for a wonderful husband Bill, son and daughter Charles and Jani, the joy of grandsons Carl and wife Kathy, Glenn and wife Sherry and two little great-grandsons Corben and Alec.
A special thanks to wonderful neighbors Dale and Sandy Cormican, a very special niece Sharon Barnes and husband Frank who have fussed over her for years and also to her two doctors Dr. Bray and Dr. Langland and too many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives to mention. She was certainly blessed with love from many!
Mabel is survived by her husband Bill of Mentor, MN; son Charles and wife Jani Seeger of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren Carl and wife Kathy of St. Louis, MO and Glenn and wife Sherry of Minneapolis, MN great-grandsons Corben and Alec: brother Orvald of Thief River Falls, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
