Mabel Sundberg, 92, died on Monday, September 27, 2010 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, October 1, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with Rev. Mary Gilthvedt officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Olaf Cemetery, Grygla, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Friday.

Mabel Ellerine Levang was born on December 7, 1917 to Peder Christian and Carrie (Brevik) Levang, on the farm east of Grygla. She attended the Valley Township Country School. She was united in marriage to Harry McLean on December 7, 1936. They lived in Grygla for all of their married life. Harry died in 1965. Mabel married Karl Sundberg on November 25, 1967. For a year they lived in the country and then they moved into town. Mabel worked at the Grygla School as a cook for over 20 years. Mabel lived at Greenleaf Assisted Living in Thief River Falls for the past three years.

Mabel was an active homemaker. She enjoyed raising her children with strong values and a good work ethic. She was a caregiver who liked to take care of her friends and neighbors. One of Mabels pastimes was visiting with friends over a cup of coffee and goodies while she fixed their hair. Church activities and ladies aid were important to Mabel. She and Karl enjoyed traveling all over the USA. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and the VFW Auxiliary.

Mabel is survived by five daughters, Darlene (Wally) Anderson, Goodridge, MN, Sandra (Danny) Bragg, Lakeville, MN, Bette (Glenn) Sundberg, Grand Forks, ND, Joy (Ellis) Austin, East Grand Forks, MN, Julie (Steve) Sparby, Grygla, MN, 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, one sister Violet Reynolds, Brooklyn Center, MN.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husbands Harry in 1965, Karl 2004, son Gerald McLean, a grandson Darrin Austin, her parents, two brothers Palmer, Ingvald, four sisters: Christine, Ida, Clara, and Pearl.
