Maybelle Pearl Rife was born June 26, 1911 at Anamoose, ND, the daughter of Alfred M. and Ida May (Varey) Rife. She was baptized September 5, 1911 at Anamoose. She attended school at Martin and Sheldon, ND. When Maybelle was 13 years old, her mother died and Maybelle lived with Eva and John Sheldon and worked as a nanny with the Romanowski families.

In May of 1933, Maybelle was united in marriage to DeForest Green at Moorhead, MN. The couple lived in Fargo and on November 9, 1937, they moved to Thief River Falls, MN. On March 18, 1956 she married Raymond Soiney at the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls. They spent many happy years on the farm northwest of Thief River Falls, in Norden Township, where the couple farmed. They raised cattle and always had horses, to the delight of their grandchildren. After Rays death on March 16, 1993 she stayed on the farm for two years before moving into Valley Home in Thief River Falls. Maybelle loved the activities and companionship of her many friends at Valley Home.

Maybelle worked with Stanley Home Products throughout Northwestern Minnesota for 30 years, where she made many close friends. She was later employed at Arctic Enterprise in Thief River Falls for several years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls and the Ladies Eagles Auxiliary and TOPS. She had also been a member of the Thief River Falls Drum and Bugle Corps and the Rebekkahs. Maybelle enjoyed playing the piano for many years as well as reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Survived by sons, Dalen (Anne) Green, Devils Lake, ND and Dennis R. Green, Clarkston, MI; five grandchildren: Debbie (Tim) Walker of Maplewood, MN, Mindy (Eric) Piper of Minerva, NY, Merideth Green of Birmingham, MI, Derek (Katherine) Green of Wylie, TX and CPT Susan Green White, of Germany; four great grandchildren; Angie Walker, Missy Walker, Shayla Walker and Blake Piper; one great-great granddaughter, Stephanie Walker; several nieces and nephews and many good friends.

Preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Maurice; two sisters: Eva Sheldon and Florence Kinney; and one grandson, Douglas Green.

Maybelle Soiney died on Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, Thief River Falls, MN, at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 26 days. May her memory be blessed.
