Obituary

Mable Mosbeck, 93, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at Black River Lutheran Church, rural St. Hilaire, MN, with Reverend Mark Helgeland and Reverend Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Black River Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer service on Saturday evening and also one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

Mable Mildred Lindblom was born January 20, 1914 in Bray Township, Pennington County, MN, the daughter of John Henry and Agnes Leni (Swap) Lindblom. She was baptized at home by Pastor A.F. Nelson, May 25, 1915 and confirmed September 15, 1929 at Black River Lutheran Church. She attended rural School District #180 in Bray Township and Chicago Hairdressing Academy, Fargo, ND from which she graduated, June 5, 1931.

On June 23, 1935, Mable was united in marriage to Richard James Mosbeck at Thief River Falls, MN. In October of 1938, the couple bought a farm in Polk Centre Township. Mabel lived there for 54 years. She was a beautician and operated a hairdressing shop in Thief River Falls from the late 1920s until early 1940s. It was called The Beauty Dell . She also did some clerking in stores, most recently at Paint and Glass, Thief River Falls.

Mable was a lifelong member of Black River Lutheran Church, President of the Ladies Aid and Womens Missionary Society, Leader of Junior and Young Womens Missionary Society, Sunday School Superintendent and served on the Altar Guild and church council, and has served on all church organizations as chairman and or member. She served on several boards regarding Developmental Disabilities, such as the Minnesota Association for Retarded Children, now called Association for Retarded Citizens, she served as Chairman of Pennington, Red Lake A.R.C., the Minnesota State Board for Retarded Children and as Regional Director for Northern Minnesota. On November 20, 1970, she was presented an award In Appreciation for Outstanding Service to Mentally Retarded Citizens of Region 1 . She was appointed as a member of the Pennington County Welfare Board, serving from July 6, 1967-June 17, 1975 and was a member of the Pennington County Historical Society, serving as board member. She was active in starting the Day Activity Center in Thief River Falls. Mable very much liked people, working with them, helping where help was needed. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and all great grandchildren. She was intensely grateful for Gods love, and her relatives and friends were her greatest asset.

Mable is survived by daughters, Phyllis Jones, Fosston, MN and Karen Vlam, Phoenix, AZ; son, Wes (Linda) Guetzkow of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Steven (Allison) Mosbeck, Texas, Nancy Mosbeck, St. Paul, MN, Raymond (Maria) Mosbeck, Cedar Rapids, IA, Jeffery (Diane) Van de Streek, Detroit Lakes, MN, Susan Van de Streek, Ottertail, MN, Amy (Jed) Nelson, Thief River Falls, MN Scott (Melissa) Rieber of Fargo, North Dakota and Lori (Sean) Aubrey of Palmer, Alaska; great grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor and Michaela Van de Streek, Brianna Anderson, Savannah, Gweneth, Griffin, Christopher and Allison Mosbeck, Colette and Nigel Ricci and Dylan, Isabel, and Mya Rieber, Laetitia, Mandee Jo, and Braedyn Aubrey and many other step grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Ellen (Stan) Read, Puyallup, WA and Janeth (Arthur) Armstrong, Lander, WY; sister-in-law, Elna Lindblom of Felton, MN.

Preceded in death by husband, Richard, August 13, 1977; son, Richard Jr., April 24, 1942; grandsons, Bruce Richard Van de Streek in 1983 and Timothy Van de Sttreek in 2002; brothers, George and John Lindblom, Russell, Ralph Rux and Harold Lindblom.
