Obituary

Mable Wegge, 97, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Oakland Park Communities, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, December 12, 2008, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Friday.

Mable Inez Paskewitz was born on December 29, 1910 at Grygla, MN, Beltrami County to William and Estelle (Bates) Paskewitz. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She spent her early childhood and attended school in Grygla. As a young woman, Mable moved with her family to Holt, MN. She was a 1928 graduate of Lincoln High School.

On November 15, 1934, she married Edgar H. Wegge at Holt and for the next few years, the couple farmed and made their home on the Wegge homestead at Holt. During World War II, the couple worked at Sand Navel Air Station, Seattle, WA. They later returned to Holt where they continued farming until 1959, when they became residents of Thief River Falls, MN. Mable worked at Model Laundry. After Edgars death in 1968, Mable relocated to Deland, Florida for a short time, and then returned to Thief River Falls and was employed at Artic Cat until her retirement. For over 15 years, she lived independently at Riverside Terrace until 2005. Because of failing health, Mable moved to CNC for a short time, then at Valley Home, and for the past few months resided at Oakland Park Nursing Home.

A devoted wife, Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and friend, Mable was always great fun, with a cheerful disposition and wonderful sense of humor who enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved spending time with family, traveling, camping, dancing, sewing, taking long walks and playing games. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.

Mable was preceded in death by her husband Edgar, four brothers: Homer, Raymond, Charles and William Paskewitz. Four sisters: Bertha, Eunice, Bernice and Anna.

She is survived by three sons Wendell (LaVonne) Wegge, Thief River Falls, MN, Wayne (Sonia) Wegge, International Falls, MN, Warren (Toinette Rossi) Wegge, Mantika, CA; 6 granchildren: Richard Wegge, Thief River Falls, MN, Paulette Shern, Fargo, ND, Taunya (Tom) Laurion, Woodbury, MN, Darrin Wegge, Apple Valley, MN, Terry and Troy Rossi, Mantika, CA; 4 Great-grandchildren: Marc, Maddi, David Laurion and Jenna Shern; 2 sisters-in-law: Esther Wegge and family, Thief River Falls, MN, Delores Paskewitz and family, Deland, FL; nieces: Harriet Nelsen, Grygla, MN, Helen Reese and family, Bemidji, MN; nephews: Ruggles Larson and family, Tacoma, WA and Virgil Larson, Honolulu, Hawaii and many relatives and friends in the area who will mourn her passing.
