MaDonna Gunderson, 74, died Thursday, October 27, 2005 at Warroad Care Center, Warroad, MN.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Oak Park Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN, with Reverend Joseph Abrahamson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery, Deer Park Township, Pennington County, MN.
Visitation will be 5 " 7 PM, Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church, Wednesday.
MaDonna Elaine Lundeen was born August 30, 1931 at Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of Oscar and Selma Marie (Haaven) Lundeen. She was baptized October 4, 1931 at Augusta Lutheran Church, Grand Forks, ND and confirmed July 14, 1946 at Oak Park Lutheran Church. She had two sisters Sharon and Gloria. MaDonna attended a country school called Dist. 34 and later went to High School in Thief River Falls, graduating in 1949. Growing up MaDonna liked to drive tractor and help out her dad, once she fell asleep while driving and made a new pattern in the field.
On October 19, 1949, MaDonna was united in marriage to Norman Hanson at Oak Park Lutheran Church. To this union they had four children, Roger, Barry, Diane and Vanessa. Norman passed away December 1, 2003.
MaDonna married Melford Gunderson, August 1, 1971 at Sisseton, SD. The couple owned a drag line service, where she was the bookkeeper. MaDonna also learned a new job, she said it took some time but she learned to operate a 22B dragline. Melford died April 26, 1985.
She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, sewing, painting by numbers, puzzles and of course visiting. MaDonna could make the best klub, lefsa, and bread.
She is survived by children, Roger (Linda Crompton) Hanson, Big Lake, MN, Diane (Mike) Jury, Thief River Falls, MN, Barry Hanson, Thief River Falls, MN, Vanessa (Steve) Appel, Thief River Falls, MN, grandchildren, Missy (Tom) Hodgson, Arne Rantanen, Ashley Jury, Joe Appel, Allan Hanson and Ann Jergenson; great grandchildren, Megan and Sydney Hodgson; sisters, Gloria Rustan and Sharon (Eddie) Larson, all Oklee. MN.
MaDonna was preceded in death by husbands, Norman and Melford; grandson, Matt Appel; a great granddaughter, Karli Hodgson and parents.
