Marcella Marie Jerome, age 88, of Medina, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of intellect, creativity, and devotion to family and community.
Born on March 9, 1938, in Hallock, Minnesota, Marcella was the beloved daughter of Edward and Catherine (Breyer) Jerome. She was baptized March of 1938 into the catholic faith and later confirmed at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hallock, where her lifelong faith was rooted.
Marcella pursued higher education with determination, she earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Saint Francis and she earned her master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. She went on to build a meaningful career as a technical writer with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Through her work, she contributed to preserving and communicating the importance of Minnesota’s natural resources.
A woman of many talents and interests, Marcella found joy in arts and crafts, expressing her creativity in ways that brought beauty to those around her. She had a commitment to her community running a summer nutrition program for kids with Tri-County. She was also an active member of the League of Women Voters and Toastmasters, reflecting her commitment to civic engagement and lifelong learning.
Marcella will be deeply missed by her loving family. She is survived by her Sons; Johann (Sara) Massmann, Jacques (Suki) Massmann, Mark (Dawn) Massmann. Grandchildren; Erin Massmann (Mark and Dawn), Anton Massmann, Margo Massmann (Johann and Sara). Brother's; Gerald (Cheryl) Jerome, Joseph (Lynne) Jerome. Sister Marlene Jerome.
She was preceded in death by her Mother Catherine Jerome. Father Edward Jerome. Sister Margaret Ann Peterson. Daughter in-lawn Dawn Massmann (Kiffmeyer).
Marcella will be remembered for her intelligence, independence, creativity, and dedication to her family and community. Her life touched many, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 26, 2026 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hallock, Minnesota, with visitation one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Hallock with lunch to follow.
