Marcella Violette, 76, entered eternal life peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Sanford Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 PM, Monday, March 14, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Oklee, MN with Father Chuck Huck presiding. Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Oklee, MN.

Visitation will be 12:30 PM- 2 PM, Monday, March 14, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Oklee.

Marcella Agnes Gehrig was born on May 30, 1934 to Anton and Theresa (Buth) Gehrig in Barnesville, MN. She attended school at the Assumption Catholic School and one year at Barnesville High School. While attending high school, she met the new young janitor and fell in love. She was united in marriage to Louis Elmer Violette on October 16, 1951. The couple made their home in rural Red Lake Falls, MN for a couple of years, then moved to a farm near Gentilly for few years. They then moved to Brooks, MN where they farmed, raising grain, cattle and hogs. There they started their own locker business in 1964. In 1969, they moved to Oklee where Marcella has continued to live. They took over the locker plant at Oklee, in 1969 and named it Violettes Locker. Marcella worked side by side with her husband Louis in the locker plant until Louis sudden death in 1993.

Marcella enjoyed making crafts, baking, and in her younger years dancing. Card playing was always fun and Marcella enjoyed a good hand of poker. Marcella was a member of the Theresas circle. In her younger years, she was on a bowling team. She loved her flower garden and the time spent in her garden. Most of all she loved the time spent with her family, grand children and great-grandchildren.

Marcella is survived by 5 daughters: Karen (Larry) Fossum, Trail, MN, Linda (Louis) Vettleson, Thief River Falls, MN, Susan (Robert) Carriere, Oklee, MN, Marlene (William) Slater, Oklee, MN, Rosemary (Tommy) Sather, Dilworth, MN, 11 grandchildren: Jared Vettleson, Joey (Shannon) Vettleson, Lisa (Brett) Winkka, Tracy (Ron) Hamm, Jamie (Kelly) Carriere, Kristy Senn, Marcy Sweno, Tami (Adam) Schmidt, Rachel (Matthew) Sullivan, Todd Sather, Shelly Sather, 17 great grandchildren, 4 sisters: Lois (Leo) Thompson, Barnesville, MN, Dee (Don) Hibbert, Bull Head, AZ, Mildred Bolgrean, Fargo, ND, Janice (Ken) Cook, Barnesville, MN, 2 sisters in law: Lorraine Gehrig, Barnesville, MN, Jeanette Gehrig, Fargo, ND, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis in 1993, 2 brothers, Donald Gehrig, and Loren Gehrig.
